The Story of Sex and Science Gone Amuck
My wife and I went to see the controversial movie, "Kinsey" based on the life of Alfred Kinsey, the infamous sex scientist analyst. The movie vividly and accurately depicts the Alfred Kinsey and his associates lives. To me, his life is the epitome of what happens when an attempt is made to make a science project out of something that is beyond science or biology. Without giving away the content of the movie, the collection of raw data on sex and publishing it, can be very hazardous and unscientific. Sex is much more than an animal impulse. When it is treated like it is an animal impulse, you're sure to get hurt, in a far greater way than an animal. The emotional involvement in a relationship cannot be measured and the data calcuated in increments written on paper, because it impacts the soul of the human being. That impact may have varying degrees depending on the person(s) but nonetheless, it will not be able to be translated in to numerical data. As love is truly something not scientific, but a matter of the disposition of the heart, so the relationship of a spouse or lover, as the are prone to say today, whill orginate from the inner core of the soul of the human . All the bell curves and graphs can be thrown away. It isn't measurable.
Yes, the fables about sex and honesty needed to come forth and be taught. There needed to be study, but not purely scientific study.
One scene near the end of the movie, tries to console Dr. Kinsey after causing an enormous amount of hurt. An elderly women, speaks of how Dr. Kinsley , "Saved her life" , because she was able to intimately love another women for 3 years. . Of course, only after she had foresaken her husband and her children and grandchildren, that disapproved for this new love . What!? Saved her!? Goodness, spare me the pain of having to foresake my spouse, children and grandchildren for some selfish bent on learning to love someone else, I don't care if its same sex or opposite sex! What in the world was this lady doing? Doesn't anybody ever hear or learn of being self-less? How about giving something up from for the greater good of the institution of family? Is that too much, while 17-30 years are risking their chances of seeing tomorrow and any hope of children or grandchildren for the sake of family and freedom.
Everytime science is used to measure the elements contained mystical part of the soul of man, it will end up with raw data that will destroy that facts with data outside the context of the immeasurable.
